Getting a treatment prescribed is one step. Getting it covered, filled, and delivered can be a whole separate process. With new therapies becoming available for people living with mitochondrial disease, more families are dealing with prior authorizations, denials, appeals, and specialty pharmacies for the first time.

You don’t have to figure it out alone. Join UMDF for a virtual support group for patients, parents, and caregivers who are working to get access to medications and treatments for mitochondrial disease.

Together we’ll talk about:
• Prior authorizations and what to do when a claim is denied
• Appeals, including what information and letters from your care team can help
• Expanded Access Programs, copay assistance and patient assistance programs
• Working with specialty pharmacies and manufacturer support programs
• Keeping records organized and staying persistent without burning out

The group is led by Margaret, Bethany and the UMDF Support Ambassadors and is a space to ask questions, share what has worked for you, and learn from others who understand.

Who should join: Adults living with mitochondrial disease, parents, and caregivers. You’re welcome whether you’re just starting the process or have been at it for a while.

After you register, you’ll get an email with the link to join. Can’t make it? Our Patient Concierge team can help with insurance questions any time: (888) 900-6486 or support@umdf.org. You can also visit umdf.org/insurance for resources.

This group offers peer support and general information. It is not medical, legal, or insurance advice. Please talk with your care team and insurance provider about your specific situation.

Thank you for being part of the mito community. We look forward to seeing you on October 21.

With gratitude,
The UMDF Support Team
