(Pittsburgh, PA – July 20, 2022) The United Mitochondrial Disease Foundation (UMDF) today announced Alicia M. Palladino, JD, PhD, an intellectual property attorney in Troutman Pepper’s Health Sciences Practice Group, has been elected chair of the UMDF Board of Trustees.
“Alicia’s guidance as a UMDF board member, attorney and former medical researcher the last five years has been significant to the success of the organization,” said UMDF President and CEO Brian T. Harman. “She has the exceptional ability to create an ambitious vision that’s implemented in a very measured way. I’m excited to see what her leadership can help us accomplish.”
A long-time supporter of UMDF, Palladino joined the board in 2017 and most recently served as vice-chair. Prior to joining Troutman Pepper, she was a researcher at the University of Pittsburgh where she extensively studied the mechanisms surrounding neurodegeneration and mitochondrial disease as well as tested a wide range of compounds for the treatment of these devastating disorders.
